What Is Liberty of London Tana Lawn, and Why We Use It

Liberty of London Tana Lawn is a fine, lightweight cotton fabric, prized for its silky feel, richly detailed prints, and durability — and it's one of the fabrics behind our signature scalloped bibs, alongside other premium cottons we choose for the same reasons: soft enough for a newborn's skin, and strong enough to survive the hundreds of wash cycles a well-loved bib goes through.

Why we chose Tana Lawn

Tana Lawn is well known for its durability, its premium quality, and a silky-soft handle that's genuinely kind to a baby's skin. A bib goes through more laundry than almost anything else in a newborn's wardrobe — so we needed a fabric that could take that, wash after wash, without the print fading or the fabric losing its softness. Tana Lawn does both. Not every design uses Tana Lawn specifically — some are made with other premium cottons, chosen for that same softness and durability — but the reasoning behind the fabric choice is the same throughout.

Small batches, closer quality checks

Every Monica & Me bib is made in small batches, which means each one gets a more thorough quality check than a bib coming off a mass production line. It's also why our signature scalloped edge isn't just decorative — the shape lets the bib sit flat across the chest and shoulders instead of bunching up, and adds a little extra length so smaller babies get more coverage where they need it.

Built to be passed down

"Heirloom quality" isn't just a phrase we use — it's something our customers tell us back. We regularly hear from parents whose bibs have washed well enough, and held up well enough, to be handed down and used again for a second child. That's the whole idea: a bib that's beautiful enough for the first wear, and durable enough for the next one.

A few common questions

What age does a bib fit?

Our bibs are designed to fit up to 24–36 months, measuring approximately 29cm around the neck — this varies a little by baby's size.

How do I care for a Liberty print bib?

They're machine washable — just follow the care label to keep the print and fabric at their best.
